On the relationship between education and contemporary art
23 January 2025, 17:00
The first debate is related to the exhibition “Perspective din punctul zero” (Perspectives from Point Zero), organized by Plastic, an art space in Cluj initiated in close collaboration with the Mircea Pinte art collection.
“Why are we now returning to the discussion about art and, more specifically, art in public spaces, in collectivity? Could this be the moment when we need art more than ever?”
We ask ourselves if art has the power to save us from our own damnation or from madness, alienation, dehumanization, from ourselves.
What keeps us in production now, what energetic, emotional engine maintains balance, what sophisticated apparatus sustains our judgment, our reasoning capacity, when nothing seems to make sense anymore, when it feels like we’ve reached our limits—are we at the end of our strength, or have we completely lost our way? Is there still a way back?
A living museum! We need a living museum! One that lives, and with it, we awaken and live too.
The artistic community in Cluj now proposes, in a moment of crisis unfolding on all levels, an inclusive, present framework, together, with a gaze toward and from the community, toward living art and contemporary artists as a way to explore our own human resources, as a way to normalize—if that word still has any meaning.”
