Connecting to peers: Queer takeover

Opening:
28 June 2025, 18:00

What networks do we dream of, build, or rebuild together—beyond the mainstream? What does connection between queer individuals look like in a Romanian context shaped by precarity, systemic violence, and the need for solidarity?

As part of Pride Month, the Queer Sisterhood Cluj intervention brings new voices into the Connecting to Peers exhibition, showcasing works by emerging queer artists who use digital media as tools for self-expression, belonging, and resistance.

Selected through an open call, this takeover offers a critical, poetic, and political reflection on how we form online communities, build alternative networks, and imagine queer digital spaces. Even in the face of opaque algorithms and exploitative platform structures, we continue to use mainstream tech tools to find each other, express ourselves, explore, and reclaim space to shape aesthetics and create safer places.

The Queer Sisterhood insert foregrounds the digital and institutional barriers queer communities face, while highlighting online, community-rooted artistic practices.

This intervention is both an invitation to reflect and a collective statement: a call for solidarity and the ongoing need for safe, inclusive spaces.
