For the third year in a row, the Cluj in Residency program offers artists the necessary support to develop their practices or to initiate new artistic projects, a form of residency that does not require relocating to another space, but time and a dedicated working framework in their own city. Following the open call, 19 artists were selected to participate in this edition. Their residencies reflect a wide range of mediums and fields of activity: from painting, photography, installation, illustration, to music, performing arts, or literature.

Dedicated to artists from any medium, the program places emphasis on emerging, experimental, and interdisciplinary practices. The conclusion of each artist’s trajectory in residence materializes in the laboratory-exhibition at Contemporar, where the creative process becomes visible and reveals not only final outcomes but a path that defines the practices of the artists in the program. The exhibition is a “laboratory”, an open studio, in which the individual voices of the artists are reflected, as well as a sample of the local art scene.
