Sometimes, the most interesting conversations with artists don’t start with their work, but with much simpler things: what made them pause recently, what they can’t stop thinking about, what they noticed on a day when they weren’t looking for anything in particular. At Artist Stalk, that’s exactly where we like to stay – in the unplanned zone of the conversation. An Artist Stalk is a conversation about anything but one’s own practice, which opens up another perspective on the things around us and brings us closer to the person who is the artist, rather than to the status of being an artist.

Șerban Savu is an artist who lives and works in Cluj-Napoca. Interested in the multiple meanings of the visible reality, he paints the image of the world around him reflected through the filter of art history. Characterized by empathy and a keen sense of observation, by means of synthesis and re-composition, his paintings are an invitation to reassess the present in a wider historical context. Savu’s works were exhibited at Centre Pompidou, Paris; Fondazione Nicola Del Roscio, Rome; Galerie Rudolfinum, Prague; Museo Pietro Canonica a Villa Borghese, Rome; National Museum of Contemporary Art, Bucharest; Le Lait Centre D’art Contemporain, Albi; PLATEAU, Samsung Museum of Art, Seoul; Arken Museum of Modern Art, Ishoj; Műcsarnok Kunsthalle, Budapest. He represented Romania at the Biennale di Venezia in 2024, with the project What Work Is.

Pentru inaugurarea Artist Stalk Cluj (septembrie–octombrie 2025), patru artiști din scena locală sunt invitați să se alăture conversației. Fiecare artist propune, de asemenea, o lucrare video instalată în spațiul galeriei, care funcționează ca o referință-cheie: o lucrare care i-a marcat, le-a modelat sensibilitatea artistică sau le-a deschis noi perspective.

Artist Stalk is a concept developed by Indecis artist run (Timișoara) and adopted by Contemporar in Cluj.
